Sixteen civilians have been killed and more than 10 injured in a suicide bomb attack in the Afghan town of Deh Rawod in the province of Uruzgan.
However, some sources say at least 20 people were killed. Some of the victims have been transferred to the Dutch military base Camp Holland.
The Afghan authorities say the attack took place in a busy market, but a spokesman for the Dutch defence ministry says the bomb went off prematurely in a mud-and-brick walled compound. A large weapons cache was reportedly found there as well as a quantity of opium. The owner has been arrested.
If the report is accurate, this is the second failed suicide bomb attack in the province of Uruzgan this week. The Netherlands has about 1,300 soldiers stationed there.
