Swedish police have arrested six suspects in connection with last week’s spectacular robbery of a Stockholm banknote storage facility.
The thieves dropped onto the roof of the facility from a stolen helicopter and blasted their way through the building with explosives. Before escaping with a reported six million euros, they prevented police from pursuing them by covering the ground around the building with sharp objects.
One of those arrested was the pilot of the helicopter, who worked at the company from which it was stolen. One of the others was a Serb. A third was Turkish.
Swedish media are reporting that Serbian police warned police in Sweden about the robbery a month ago, but were not taken seriously. The Swedish police have denied this.
