Three Afghan civilians and three foreign troops have been killed in a suicide car bomb attack some 50 kilometres north of the capital Kabul.
The attack occurred in Kapisa province where US and French troops are deployed as part of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
Before today's bombing, most of the international soldiers who had lost their lives in Afghanistan this year were killed in insurgent bomb attacks in southern Afghanistan, which is a Taliban stronghold. There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for today's attack.
