Sir,
Long back in 1996 to 2000 I had been a regular listener of RNW. At that time you sent me a Booklet on details of various types of Radio sets in English language.
I am searching that Booklet again.
Will you help me?

Well, the NRL's State of Origin is over thanks to NSW's 2 wins and so does the FIFA World Cup in Brazil with only 2 matches left. Next year, another World Cup will begin in Australia, New Zealand, Canada & England. It's on all 3 sports. Cricket, Women's Soccer and Rugby Union. Buckle up!

I was looking for such kind of post since a long time to understand this topic in well manner. Now I am satisfied and got lots of thing after visiting this post. Its really very interesting post full of valuable information. The key part of this post is its descriptive way to define anything. I liked it with my heart. Nowadays people have got in to the habit of making post but the most important thing is to make an interesting and informative post. This post is a excellent example of such kind of thread.

RNW is what kept me up at night in a very harsh time of my life. I've been listening to shortwave radio only for a few years but I never go back. I'm half-dutch as well which is a plus for me :-)

i should disagree to Mark, Sony ain't any better than any Toshiba or Asus. You dont pay for brand with almost identical quality.

The best choice is definitely the Sony ICF7600G like said before. I've listened to shortwave for tens of years and the IC7600G is the best I've had so far.

Dear Mr.Bharat,
The best choice you can have is Sony ICF7600GR on E-bay for less than US$150. e-bay india will get you for around Rs 11000/-. It is a superb one giving excellent performance. You go in for a metallic one.
I am too a shortwave listener right from the 70's using valve radios to the present digital ones. Listening on shortwave is a superb hobby, knowing latest about the world. Unfortunately the DRM is going to come and receivers are expected shortly and India is converting almost all its transmitters to DRM enabled. I am yet to experience the DRM platform.
Hence before you decide for Sony or Grundig alike, think of it.

I am from Coimbatore South India.

I am also using the same Sony World band reciever ICF-SW7600GR. I am also residing in Coimbatore, in Gandhipuram. By the way do you only listen to SW or have the hobby of writing Reception Reports and getting QSLs. I have the hobby of collecting QSL cards from various countries. Even I have QSLs of Radio Netherlands Worldwide, from various relays. My email id is melwyn.alfred@gmail.com

reoub 30 November 2011 - 8:57am

I second that, Amen to that!

Israel 25 October 2011 - 2:13pm

Yes. I listen to SW mostly and writing reception reports to major broadcasters. I have QSLs from VOA to RA to NHK.It is a thirty year hobby as SWL for this retired bank official. I live in Pollachi.

PeterB 10 February 2012 - 11:03pm / NL

I listen to shortwave since I was a little boy and I've never stopped listening! Nice to see there are so many people out there just like me :)

Dear Bharat,

I'm terribly sorry, we used to have an online guide, but we no longer keep it up to date. There are guides online, but nothing we can find specific to India. The best course of action would be to contact a local retailer.

Best,

Ashleigh
