Sex abuse swim teacher case 'exaggerated'

Published on 9 July 2009 - 8:06am
More about:

The lawyer acting for Benno Larue, the Den Bosch swimming instructor accused of sex abuse, says the prosecution case is exaggerated. Benno L. is suspected of rape and legal restrictions mean his lawyer has only now been able to comment on the case.

Benno L. is accused of sexually abusing at least 98 girls, but his lawyer says 10 of the cases involve only "mild forms of abuse". The lawyer believes the prosecution authorities have let themselves get carried away following comments by the mayor of Den Bosch and media coverage of the case.

He goes on to say that the parents of the girls are worrying unduly over what may have happened to their children. The prosecution authorities have not responded to his statement.
