Royal reception for Haitian aid workers

Published on 10 March 2010 - 11:06pm
More about:

Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and Prince Willem-Alexander have received aid workers who helped victims of the Haitian earthquake in January.

According to the Government Information Service, they wanted to show their appreciation for their work. Aid workers from various Dutch organisations were invited to the queen's residence, Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague.

According to official figures more than 200,000 people died in the earthquake, although RNW journalist, Hans Jaap Nelissen, disputes these figures. More than a million Haitians were made homeless in the devastating earthquake.
