Salif Keita is a giant among African pop musicians and has performed all over the world to millions of people. He’s also albino, meaning he has no skin pigmentation - and in parts of Africa, such as his native Mali – that can mean an extremely difficult life. So he’s made it his mission to help albinos through a foundation he helped set up.
Recently over 50 albinos were murdered in Tanzania and Burundi by people who believe that their body parts possess magical properties while albinos themselves are offered little government protection.
Salif talks about the difficulties of his own albinism and the future he sees for his two albino daughters.
