In an attempt to find out more about the man who committed a suicide attack on the Royal Family in April, the National Police have requested public broadcaster EO to hand over footage shot a week before the attack.
According to a report in De Telegraaf daily, the video images were taken on 23 April 2009 during Queen Beatrix' visit to the northern city of Delfzijl. Police say there are indications that the perpetrator of the attack of 30 April, named as Karst Tates, was among the public in Delfzijl, and that his black Suzuki car was also seen there.
In the April 30 attack on the Queen's Day parade in Apeldoorn seven bystanders were killed, as well as Karst Tates himself, who ploughed his car through the crowds, narrowly missed an open-top bus carrying the Royals, and crashed into a monument. Members of the Royal Family were in shock, but otherwise unharmed.
