Parents view sex abuse swim teacher’s videos

Published on 7 December 2009 - 9:46am
More about:

From Monday, parents of children identified in videos and photos taken by the swimming teacher charged with child sexual abuse, Benno Larue, will have the opportunity to view the material.

At the police station in the southern city of Den Bosch they will be shown the video and photographic evidence relating to their own children. Before they see the videos and photos, they will be given a description of the content. Counsellors will be on hand to offer them support.

So far 60 victims have been identified. The police have not made public how many parents have chosen to view the material.

Benno Larue specialised in lessons for children with mental disabilities or a fear of water. He was arrested in June after a computer repairman found suspicious material on his hard disk and reported the discovery to the police. Police went on to find tens of thousands of photographs and videos of young girls at his home. He is charged with rape, sexual abuse, and possession and distribution of child pornography.

human rights are always about the rights of the criminals, not about the victim or the family....strange EU and rest of the world....

I don´t think I could view that materal if it were my child involved, it would be too painful to see and I as a mother, I would flip out! Especially because the laws here are too soft and that pervert will probably spend little time in prison, that would indeed infuriate me all the more. I think all of EU countries need to seriously reform their laws on crime, make it very tough for child perverts, murderers to escape punishments. They need to spend life in prison, never to be let out to harm someone else in the future.
