The sole surviving gunman accused of involvement in the terrorist attacks on the Indian city of Mumbai last year has confessed.
Until now 21-year old Pakistani Ajmal Amir Kasab had consistently insisted he was innocent. However, during a court hearing inside a high-security prison in Mumbai, he suddenly stood up and pleaded guilty to all 86 charges against him, including murder and waging war on India. He also admitted that he and the nine other attackers travelled to Mumbai by boat from Pakistan.
The confession is good news for the Indian government, which has repeatedly stated that terrorist groups from Pakistan were behind the attacks on hotels and the railway station. A total of 166 people were killed in the attacks in November last year.
