The images in Cartooning for Peace - about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict - are as painful as they are funny. The cartoonists' work was commissioned by Parents' Circle, an organisation made up of hundreds of bereaved Palestinian and Israeli families, all of whom have lost one or more family members in the conflict.
Turning their backs on revenge and violence, the families think of activities to demonstrate there is another way. Parents Circle says cartoons provide an excellent medium to put the conflict in a new light. The exhibition is touring worldwide. From 14 September the cartoons will be on display at the Dom church in Utrecht.
The featured cartoonists include Pat Oliphant and Cathy Wilcox from Australia, Jeff Danziger, Liza Donnelly and Jim Morin from the United States, Japan’s Noria Yamanoi and France’s Jean Plantureux.
