Ortega accuses Dutch MEP of coup plans

Published on 15 November 2009 - 10:20pm
More about:

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega says Dutch MEP Hans van Baalen was in Nicaragua to see how the army felt about attempting a coup d’état, but found no officers willing to go along with the idea.

This is the Nicaraguan President's explanation for the diplomatic row which has arisen since a visit by the MEP.

The European Union parliamentarian was supposedly deported from the country last week, but only heard about it when he was leaving anyway.

In response, Hans van Baalen has called the accusations “utter nonsense”. The conservative VVD MEP is on a tour of Central America as the president of the world federation of liberal and democratic parties, Liberal International.

He is currently in Honduras, where he is trying to mediate in the political conflict between ousted President Manuel Zelaya and his de facto successor Roberto Micheletti.

It was very unfortunate for Mr. van Baalen that the military are very faithful to President Ortega. He got himself busted, if he was expecting the military to stay quiet about this, he just ridiculed himself internationally. If this man is not punished, this is a very irresponsible issue from the Dutch, unless they don't acknowledge that we don't live anymore in 1492, not even in the good old 80's coup years.

So are you deliberately ignoring that this "Liberal" MP named Micheletti the Vicepresidnet of the International Liberals just today? He rewarded a dictator, like the good mutt he is! I wouldn't wonder if spoke privately to Nicaraguan Generals with the excuse that he was just visiting them "because it was an army holiday"(which HE DID), expecting them, just like the DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT's opossition, to reveal against him. If this is not interventionism, and this MP a filibuster, just like in the colonial times and identifying himself exactly like the American pirate, William Walker(who declared himself a couple of centuries ago, president of Nicaragua without anyone electing him), comes to our countries to incite our peoples for insurrection against democratically elected presidents, then pigs can fly. We Hondurans and Nicaraguans are very insulted because of this and demand respect from the Netherlands Parliament. If this MP is a leader for you, you should be ashamed of yourselves, because then you have given in to fascism. I never heard of such a ridiculous clown in my life! How self-righteous! So any idiotic European can come to our lands and tell us what to do and reward dictators? This is crazy!
