A gunman in the US city of Orlando in Florida has killed one person and injured at least five others in an office building where he used to work.

The gunman managed to get away but was later arrested at his mother's house. The police say the man is a former employee of one of the companies housed in the building.
 

The shooting comes a day after an army officer shot and killed 13 people at the Fort Hood army base in Texas. Thirty others, including the officer, were injured. The officer, an army psychiatrist about to be posted to Iraq, is in a stable condition. Relatives say he was distressed by his imminent tour of duty. President Barack Obama has postponed a planned trip to Japan by one day and will attend the burial of the 13 victims.
