US President Barack Obama has urged Iran to reveal the real extent of its nuclear programme. Speaking at the end of the G20 summit in Pittsburgh, he refused to speculate about any measures he would take if Iran fails to heed his call.
President Obama said he preferred a diplomatic solution but did not rule out the use of force. Along with Russia and China he called on Iran to give inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency access to its second uranium enrichment plant, whose existence it revealed on Friday.
Leaders at the G20 also agreed to continue stimulating the economy until growth has stabilised. It was also agreed that bankers will only receive bonuses after they have shown positive results over a number of years. And the bonuses could be claimed back if subsequent results prove disappointing. Caps on bonuses, however, will not be imposed.
The G20 leaders also decided to boost clean energy by gradually reducing subsidies for fossil fuels. Worldwide such subsidies amount to some 200 billion euros every year.
