Obama arrives in South Korea

Published on 18 November 2009 - 1:40pm
More about:

United States President Barack Obama has arrived in South Korea where he will hold talks centring on tensions with North Korea. His visit to Seoul is the last stop on his seven-day tour of Asia, which has taken him to Japan, Singapore and China.

His talks with Chinese leaders did not lead to any breakthroughs. Although a number of trade disputes were covered, no concrete agreements were reached.

President Obama and his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao could only undertake to intensify US-Chinese co-operation. The leaders also discussed human rights, climate change, Tibet and Taiwan. Mr Obama ended his visit to China with a trip to the Great Wall.
