Norwegian cyclist Edvald Boasson Hagen has won the sixth stage of the Eneco Tour, the cycling race held each year in Belgium and the Netherlands.
The stage stretched 163 kilometres, from Genk in Belgium to Roermond in the Netherlands. Boasson Hagen beat Australia’s Matthew Gross and the United States’ Tyler Farrar in the mass sprint.
After the race Farrar, who was forced to relinquish the leader’s jersey on Sunday, announced his intention to quit the race. He said he wants to use the coming days to prepare for the Tour of Spain, which begins in the Dutch city of Assen on Saturday.
The Eneco Tour ends on Tuesday, with a short time trial in the Dutch city of Amersfoort.
