A group of Nobel peace laureates has called on Russia to find the killers of activist Natalia Estemirova. Ms Estemirova, who worked for a human rights group in the Chechen capital Grozny, was abducted July 15. Her body was later found in neighbouring Ingushetia.
In a letter published in Britain's Guardian newspaper, the laureates say "nothing is more dangerous than telling the truth in today's Russia". The letter is signed by more than 100 prominent figures, including Nobel laureates Shirin Ebadi, Desmond Tutu and former Czech President Vaclav Havel.
NGO Spravedlivost, meanwhile, says the body of human rights activist Andrei Kulagin, who disappeared over two months ago, has been found in the northwestern region of Karelia. The police have so far refused to confirm the identity of the corpse.
