No case against Intifadah three

Published on 27 January 2010 - 4:01pm
More about:

The Dutch authorities have decided not to prosecute the Socialist Party MPs Harry van Bommel and Sadet Karabulut and activist Gretta Duisenberg for inciting hatred, discrimination and violence.

In January last year they took part in a demonstration in Amsterdam protesting against an incursion into the Gaza Strip by the Israeli army.

A video of the demonstration which appeared on internet showed the three shouting "Intifadah! Intifadah! Free Palestine!"

Renowned criminal lawyer Bram Moszkowitz submitted a complaint about them and other demonstrators who were shouting "Hamas! Hamas! Give the Jews the gas!"

The Public Prosecutor's Office has ruled that the "Intifadah" slogan did not constitute a criminal offence, on the grounds that an intifadah or "uprising" can be violent or non-violent. The "Hamas" slogan was judged as inciting hatred but it was not possible to establish who in the crowd was guilty.

It also ruled that the three could not be held responsible for slogans shouted by other demonstrators.

No EXTREMIST Christians are not so blatant, they economically colonialise , physically colonialize in the case of Palestine, set corrupt puppet governments economically stifle, and wage wars that cost millions of Iraqis their lives for economic and religious (Israel) gain , and hide behind the pretense of spreading democracy and Liberty ! alot more suave and subtle, but still just as bad if not worst. What is the harm in destroying Iraqi lives their just an inferior race, that are bound to hell! (please note the sarcasm)

Either way if I were Dutch I would'nt want my countrymen and especially elected members of parliament to be concerned with any other matter that the Netherlands and the Dutch people present and future! Why drag and tear Dutch society apart, and jeoperdize the most progressive legislative and socially democratic nation of Europe for a cause that is not their own?

"Why drag and tear Dutch society apart, and jeoperdize the most progressive legislative and socially democratic nation of Europe for a cause that is not their own?".........What I hear you saying is: "The Dutch society )most being Jesus freaks) are an exception to the rule. As to Wilders and the three in the article, the Western nation of the Netherlands have put Wilders on the dock to appease the Islamic nation and it's new task master the EU. If Wilders has committed a hate crime, one would think those three individuals who gatherd in a public place and shouted to gas the Jews are just as guility. No Wilders and free speech are own trail in the Netherlands. If it is wrong to point out the crimes of Islamic terrorists then it surely must be wrong to shout out and incite others to kill and gas Jews. You pointed out the crimes of Israel against the Palestinians as a justification for inciting murder and Wilders pointed out the vast crimes taking place by Islamic Jidhadists to stop further crimes. If there is too be a free and safe place in this world for all humans, then all who threaten the safety of others should be put on trial and not just Wilders.

Slapshot 28 January 2010 - 5:52am / Canada

Definately, these three individuals are responsible and guilty for the incitement of hatred they are accused of. That the court could come up with such a flimsy excuse to exonorate them is more than deeply disturbing. This does not let Geert off the hook either, but now I am really wondering just what in the world the Netherlands is coming to. The centre core of the society seems to be seriously and rapidly deteriorating to the brazen acts of the marginal extremes. Time is running out for debate on this when acts of justice need to be performed in order to save the sanctity and primacy of the Dutch legal code. The next general election in the Netherlands will be anything but a stirling exercise in the peaceful orderly democratic process it should be.

First of all Hiram,
it would be very much appreciated if you could write with some form of coherence and sense.
second, if you want to play the double standard game, then lets play the double standard game.
Israel has full, undeniable, unwavering military and economic aid from the world's super power because it is run by a bunch of evangelical Jesus freaks ( yourself included) who want to fulfill the requirements of the apocalypse. It breaches human rights violations the likes of which you can not even fathom. Many of which "I" have personally been witness. Try to explain the reasoning behind the colonialization and the settlements in the west back, the tearing down of Palestinian homes (to which they have 3 minutes to evacuate), the injection of an exclusive Jewish population into the Jerusalem. Don't quote or refer to FOX news until you have seen it yourself (But of course you have an ancient text to exonerate all this).
Third, speaking as an atheist, Geert Wilders is stirring up a war against Islam and Muslims. He is making things worst and he know that D**n well. There may be truth and alot of it in what he says, but once he transcends the main arguement all foundations of logic just fall apart. Maybe it's time to do some yelling and shouting for the Palestinian people that are being "gassed up" in silence.

Hiram 28 January 2010 - 7:23am / USA

"Maybe it's time to do some yelling and shouting for the Palestinian people that are being "gassed up" in silence.".........My proposition in this article was: The Netherlands has two sets of standards when charging it's citizens with hate crimes. Wilders never gathered a group of people in the streets shouting and demanding the murder or gassing of Muslims; whereas, those three individuals in the article were inciting and demanding the gassing of Jewish people and the prosecution failed to place them on the dock with Wilders for doing so. { "There may be truth and alot of it in what he says, but once he transcends the main arguement all foundations of logic just fall apart.".........His arguement is: "Islam is dangerous. Anyone who has any "foundations of logic" and who has not been asleep for the last twenty years can easily come to the conclusion by noting the terrorism that has and is now taking place througout the world by Muslim Jihadists. { As to "evangelical Jesus freaks": When was the last time (not a thousand years ago with the Templars) have you heard of Christians flying planes into buildings killing several thousand people or beheading a person just because he was Jewish journalist, bombing trains in London or Madrid, or killing innocent people in Mumbi, and a thousand more incidents?

Hiram 27 January 2010 - 6:49pm / USA

"The Public Prosecutor's Office has ruled that the "Intifadah" slogan did not constitute a criminal offence, on the grounds that an intifadah or "uprising" can be violent or non-violent. The "Hamas" slogan was judged as inciting hatred but it was not possible to establish who in the crowd was guilty."......Now, let me see if I have got this straight! Wilders likens the Quaran to "Mein Kampf" or he wants to tax Muslim, head scarves and he is put on the dock for stating his views but the Public Prosecutor's Office will not prosecute (THESE PEOPLE) because "it was not possible to establish who in the crowd was guilty." One would think that a video showing these people shouting would be enough evidence to prosecute but it appears that this is not the case when it comes to people who only want to gas "Jews". One would think that the police, at the time of protest, would have arrested people openly inciting crimes against the "Jews" but it did not happen. Why? Is it because the authorties in the Netherlands don't care about the "rule of law" when crimes are committed against "Jews but when people like Wilders talks about the threats of Islam (which the entire world knows as true) it steps forward with the heavy hand of the law and prosecutes? Every Jewish person residing in Europe needs to leave Europe before they end-up being gassed just like those "people" wanted and shouted. When people are allowed to openly shout and demontrate the murder of all Jews and the state does nothing to quell the hate, you can bet the gas chambers are not very far away. The Dutch prosecution is no different from the legal authorities of the 1930s in the Vaterland. P.S. Wilders, you were found guility before you step into the dock.
