2010 has already arrived for New Zealanders. They welcomed in the New Year twelve hours ahead of the Netherlands at 1100 UTC.
The party is now getting under way for the millions of Australians who have gathered to bring in the new decade at Sydney Harbour Bridge. The city's festivities look set to be a little less raucous this year, as police have imposed an alcohol ban in public places.
