A new trial has been ordered in the case of the murdered Russian investigative journalist Anna Politkovskaya.
Although three suspects in the case were acquitted in February due to insufficient evidence, the Russian supreme court has now annulled the acquittals.
Ms Politkovskaya was found murdered in her Moscow home in October 2006. The three suspects are two Chechnian brothers, who allegedly drove the killer to her house, and a former police officer who purportedly provided logistical support. The person who actually committed the murder has not been caught.
Ms Politkovskaya was known for her sharp criticism of the Kremlin. In her articles, she often addressed human rights abuses in Chechnya. Her sympathisers accuse the Russian government of the killing.
