New name for Rotterdam's airport

Published on 5 February 2010 - 2:34pm
More about:

Rotterdam's airport is to get a new name. From next week it will be called Rotterdam The Hague Airport.

The Hague is the seat of government in the Netherlands and is known as the home of international justice as it houses the biggest international courts in the world. By changing the airport's  name, it is hoped more passengers who want to go to The Hague will go through Rotterdam.

The new name will now be promoted abroad. The renaming foreshadows the opening of a new railway station that will enable air travellers to take a 25 kilometre ride straight from the airport into the centre of The Hague, or to Rotterdam in the other direction.
