A new coalition government has been formed in the Ukraine, consisting of President Viktor Yanukovych's Party of Regions, the Communist Party, Litvin's Block and a number of independent parliamentarians.
Together they have a slight majority of the 450 parliamentary seats. Former Finance Minister Mykola Azarov has been appointed the new prime minister, replacing Julia Tymoshenko, whose coalition government fell after just a few months.
Her departure as prime minister marks the end of five years of rule by the leadership which emerged from the 2004 pro-Western "Orange Revolution".
