The Netherlands is heading for a record-breaking sunny spring, according to weather institute Meteo Consult.
The sun has shone for as many as 617 hours between 1 March and last Sunday. This puts 2011 in fourth place so far for sunniest spring since records began.
According to Meteo, we can expect another 40 hours of sunshine between now and Wednesday, 25 May. At that rate, 2011 will set the bar for sunniest spring, bumping 1990 from first place with its 651.4 hours.
“Given the forecast for the coming days, almost nothing can go wrong,” said Meteo.
