Dutch fashion designer Edgar Vos had died aged 78. He succumbed to a heart attack during a vacation in the US resort of Fort Lauderdale.
Edgar Vos was once called the emperor of the Netherlands' fashion designers, and is generally considered one of the most successful and influential couturiers ever produced by the country. His creations were worn by prominent Dutch people like Netherlands Olympics Committee chair Erica Terpstra and star actress Willeke van Ammelrooy. His success was not limited to his native country, however.
Mr Vos opened his first salon in 1971, quickly gaining a reputation as a classical, high-quality couturier. His empire grew and ultimately counted 15 shops, which are continuing in business. Edgar Vos specifically aimed to give relatively unattractive people a handsome appearance through the garments he designed.
His last catwalk show was held in the Amsterdam Hilton in 2000.
