More about:

This week’s RNW Music Monday Dutch Top 10 (week beginning 26 December 2011)

It’s jingle all the way in the final RNW Music Monday Dutch Top 10 of the year with two Christmas songs to bring you some festive cheer. If you’re more into dance or rap music, we’ve got plenty of that on offer as well: top DJs Armin van Buuren and Afrojack feature on our chart, while Dutch language rapper Gers Pardoel has an unprecedented three songs listed this week.

With three new entries, three older hits had to go: Have a little faith in me by Charly Luske (after 1 week), Hey by Leonie Meijer (3 weeks) and Wereldwijd Orkest by the Metropole Orchestra (3 weeks).

1 (1) Ik neem je mee – Gers Pardoel (12 wks)
2 (2) Nergens zonder jou – Guus Meeuwis & Gers Pardoel (7 wks)
3 (5) Doluv2luvu – Ilse DeLange (5 wks)
4 (3) What have you done – Anouk (5 wks)
5 (6) Meer kan het niet zijn – Bløf & Sabrina Starke (6 wks)
6 (-) You put the X in Xmas – Tiny Little Big Band (1 wk)
7 (-) No beef – Afrojack & Steve Aoki ft. Miss Palmer (1 wk)
8 (-) Bagagedrager – Gers Pardoel ft. Sef (1 wk)
9 (7) Jingle all the way – B-Yentl (3 wks)
10 (10) Youtopia – Armin van Buuren ft. Adam Young (2 wks)

New entries

8 Bagagedrager – Gers Pardoel featuring Sef

While Ik Neem Je Mee and Nergens Zonder Jou still occupy the top two slots in our Top 10 this week (Ik Neem Je Mee has now been at number one for 10 weeks), Gers Pardoel adds a third song to our chart with Bagagedrager (“Carrier”, as in the thing on the back of your bicycle to carry a passenger). He recorded it with fellow Dutch rapper Sef, with whom he already had a couple of hits a few years ago.

7 No Beef – Afrojack & Steve Aoki ft. Miss Palmer

Afrojack, whose real name is Nick van de Wall, is one of the Netherlands’ biggest music exports of 2011, along with singer Caro Emerald. He won a Grammy Award for Best Remix and in August he was only the third Dutch artist to have a number one single in the US Hot 100 singles chart, with a song called Give Me Everything (featuring Ne-Yo, Pitbull and Nayer).
Now he’s back with a new single, which is also a collaboration, this time with American DJ Steve Aoki and female singer Miss Palmer.

6 You Put The X in Xmas – Tiny Little Big Band

It is what it says on the tin – the Tiny Little Big Band is a Dutch big band with not many people in it. However, they do produce a great big band sound which fits well in the old fashioned Christmas tunes you hear so often at this time of the year. They are regular guests on a popular Friday night radio show at Dutch pop station 3FM. Last Christmas they wrote this little tune, which is used as a jingle at said radio station. Extensive airplay has now resulted in an entry in our Top 10.
