Mumbai marks anniversary of attacks

Published on 26 November 2009 - 12:14pm
More about:

The Indian city of Mumbai is remembering the terrorist attacks in one year ago in which 166 people lost their lives. The anniversary has been marked with prayers for the dead and a parade of new security hardware including armour-plated and amphibious vehicles.

After the attacks the authorities invested around 18 million euros in new equipment, and recruited extra police officers. The show of force is aimed at instilling confidence in the police. After the attacks, both government and police came in for heavy criticism, with claims that the police were poorly trained and inadequately armed.

On 26 November last year, ten terrorists attacked different locations in Mumbai, including two luxury hotels and a busy railway station. It took the police three days to kill or capture all of them.

It would of course be “ISLAMOPHOBIA” to mention that the surviving gunman, Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab is a Pakistani Islamic terrorist as were his accomplices.
When western men are reported to have molested boys, names are given. No attempts are made to hide the fact that the perpetrators are Dutch or Irish Roman Catholic clergy, and accountability from the church is diligently pursued (as it should be). Did anyone happen to notice the lack of death threats (or screams of "PHOBIA!") from Catholic pulpits for such “insults” or “discrimination”?

I'm surprised no one has tried to pin the Mumbai attacks and the ones listed below, on Geert Wilders.
