A mother has reported her son in to the police for his involvement in the beach party riot in Hook of Holland. She recognised his picture when it was shown in a TV crime programme on Tuesday.
It was the second time the photos of suspects had been shown on television, and more are soon to be released. Up to now, the police have received 11 tip-offs. Seven of the ten suspects featured on the programme have been arrested.
At the end of August a 19-year-old man was shot dead by police during riots at the Sunset Grooves free beach party in Hook of Holland, west of Rotterdam. Six people were injured. Police opened fire when they were surrounded and attacked by rioters. The Rotterdam police chief was criticised for failing to deploy enough riot police, despite tip-offs that Rotterdam hooligans were planning to cause trouble at the event.
