More than two-thirds of the Dutch population take part in some kind of sport, with men more active than women, according to the Dutch statistics office (CBS).
Fitness training is the most popular sport. This is followed by running, pool and football for men and dancing, korfball and hockey for women. Walking, Nordic walking, cycling, mountain biking and tennis are also popular.

No wonder why fitness training belongs to the first place. People would do whatever it takes just to look good and stay in shape. Just imagine that combined with steroids that support the results of a twice a week gym program. Now that is some healthy nation you got there, fellows. Many of us should follow your lead.
Two thirds... that`s a number not quite to be neglected. This means the majority of the country`s population has healthy habits, beginning with jogging, gymnastics, ending in most often practiced fitness exercises. It seems quite surprising that fantasy hockey is more played by women than by men. As much as I strive, I can`t find the explanation for this. Why wouldn`t women prefer a lighter sport?
Great! The Dutch love of sport is very inspiring. God bless the Dutch!
