More Air France wreckage found

Published on 3 June 2009 - 4:32pm
More about:

The Brazilian air force has found more debris from the Air France passenger jet that crashed on Monday. Traces of oil and kerosene were also seen on the water's surface.

The search for wreckage continues 1000 kilometres off the Brazilian coast. French and US airplanes are trying to spot wreckage from the air. It is hoped that the aircraft's black box will be found. This would make it possible to gather more information regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash. The plane came down without sending a distress signal. The French government fears that the wreck will never be found.

Why aren't airplanes' black boxes not made so that they can't sink? I guess that would be too simple a problem to solve.
