Miss Gibraltar is crowned Miss World

The Miss World beauty contest has been won by Miss Gibraltar.

The 23-year-old Kaiane Aldorino was crowned by last year's title winner from Russia in the South African capital Johannesburg. Miss Mexico and Miss South Africa came second and third. It is the first time that Gibraltar has won the beauty pageant.

Venezuela and India are the countries with the most beauty queens. Each has won the Miss World competition five times.

Hi Kelly, people know about your country from ..'like the Rock of Gibralter'...referring to a person solid as a rock... But yes, we know no more than that.However, I just read about your lovely Gibraltar. Congratualtions for the Miss World title.

As a Gibraltarian living in the Netherlands, I'd like to congratulate Kaiane for making Gibraltar proud and finally putting us on the map. I'm sure a lot of people around the world have never heard of our small country so I wish her all the best for the coming year in her role as Miss World.
