Minister: 31 million for Rotterdam development

Published on 29 October 2009 - 8:40pm
More about:

Planning and Environment Minister Jacqueline Cramer plans to spend 31 million euros on the redevelopment of Rotterdam's City Harbours. In the coming years, 1300 houses will be built, 1200 of them on water.

The minister says the development will be the biggest and most sustainable restructuring ever of a Dutch city centre. Environmentally-friendly materials will be used for its construction.

The announcement was made at the opening of the RDM campus in the city's former docklands area. The campus, which was opened by Prince Willem-Alexander today, will accommodate creative businesses and colleges.
