Melvin Dummar entered the public eye when he claimed to have rescued reclusive billionaire tycoon Howard Hughes on a Nevada desert road in 1967. Listen to an interview with Melvin below.
He gave the dishevelled stranger a ride and and says that during a conversation about planes, the man claimed to be Hughes.
Melvin dropped him at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas - which was owned by Hughes at the time - and thought nothing more of it.
Then in 1976, Melvin received a handwritten will, apparently penned by Howard Hughes himself – and Melvin stood to inherit over $150 million.
The dispute over the authenticity of the "Mormon Will" changed Melvin’s life forever.

I heard the interview with Melvin Dummar and thought it was excellent. I have just finished writing a fictional history about the USA in those years following John F. Kennedy's assassination and Howard Hughes is in it! If Mr. Dummar is interested, I could send him some enlightening materials. One which I would recommend is on the Internet: Mae Brussell wrote and broadcast an excellent tale about Hughes' disappearance. The Mormon connection is highly significant...
