Russia is banning Mein Kampf, the book German Nazi leader Adolf Hitler wrote in 1925. The judicial authorities in Moscow say the work argues that discrimination against and the extermination of so-called ‘non-Aryan’ peoples is justifiable.
The move is designed to help stifle the rise of far-right ideology in Russia. Militant right-wing extremists regularly attack migrants from Central Asia who have moved to Russia to do low paid menial work.
African and Asian students are also the targets of such violence. At least 60 people were killed and over 300 injured in racist attacks in Russia last year.
