During a three-day operation throughout the United States, FBI agents have rescued 52 children who were working as prostitutes. Over 700 suspects, including 60 people described as pimps, have been arrested.
The children, mostly girls but including some boys and aged from 10 to 18, were working on the street, in casinos and at parking lots for lorries. The FBI says child prostitution is a major problem in the US. Since 2003, agents have rescued nearly 900 young people from pimps and people smugglers.
