At least 11 die in suicide bombings in Pakistan

Published on 16 October 2009 - 1:03pm
More about:

At least 11 people were killed earlier today in Pakistan's north-western city of Peshawar in a twin suicide bombing outside a police station.

On Thursday, a child was killed in a bombing in Peshawar. A week ago, 49 people died when a bomb exploded at the Khyber Bazaar, one of the city's largest markets. Peshawar is the capital of Pakistan's North West Frontier Province, where government forces are conducting an offensive against Taliban rebels and other Muslim fundamentalist groups.

Around 150 people have been killed in various attacks in Pakistan during the past two weeks.
