"It's rhythmic, sometimes showy and never boring. We call it Diski and it is uniquely South African." South Africa's official tourism promotion agency has set out to capture the nation's spirit in a dance as part of the promotion for the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Diski is common in South African slang for the game of football, and it's now been turned into a dance that showcases the nation's passion for the sport. The concept of the Diski Dance is to show the country's welcoming spirit as a nation.
The dance has been officially endorsed by FIFA as the official dance of the 2010 World Cup, but not everyone knows about it. However, with over 75,000 hits on YouTube (and counting...), the Diski Dance instruction video you see above is likely to spread the word very well.
