In 32 places around the Netherlands, leaflets have been distributed warning local residents against a paedophile living in their street. The leaflets give the names of the alleged paedophiles and their house numbers.
The anonymous publishers say tough action is necessary because the justice minister is failing to take adequate measures to protect children. A spokesperson for the website stopkinderpornonu.org (‘stop child pornography now’) told Dutch public service broadcaster NOS that the leaflets have been distributed in 40 streets in 32 towns and cities around the country.
The organisation denies being behind the campaign, but does give it its backing. It says a similar leafleting campaign will be held tomorrow in Belgium.
