An Australian court has delivered a historic verdict by ruling that a severely parlaysed man has the right to die.
A court in the state of Western Australia ruled that 49-year-old Christian Rossiter has the right to order the care home where he is living to stop feeding and hydrating him. Mr Rossiter has been fed through a tube since two separate accidents left him quadriplegic.
The ruling creates a new precedent in Australia, where some states impose a penalty of life imprisonment for helping someone to end their own life.
