KLM staff with diabetes banned from flying

Published on 24 October 2009 - 1:32pm
More about:

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is going to ban from flying all stewardesses and steward with diabetes, even those who have worked for years without any problems.

KLM says the move is the result of new, stricter European Union security regulation. Pilots suffering from diabetes have been grounded for years. Six KLM workers with diabetes have been told to stop flying. Cabin union VNC is outraged and says staff prevented from working due to diabetes can always be replaced by colleagues. The union has demanded that the affected workers be allowed to fly again.
