Sunday's elections in Iraq could hold the key to a possible resolution of the long-running dispute over the oil-rich northern Kirkuk province.
The area is the centre of Iraq's oil industry and is connected by pipelines to ports on the Mediterranean Sea. With its explosive ethnic mix, Kirkuk is pivotal to the country's political stability. And the central question is: does is actually belong to Iraq, or is it part of Kurdistan?
