Kenyan police arrest Dutch passport-holders

Published on 29 July 2009 - 1:59pm
More about:

Kenyan police have arrested four Dutch passport-holders at the border with Somalia. Three of the four were born in Morocco. The fourth was born in Somali. All are suspected of aiding Somalia's al-Shabaab rebels.

The four were arrested at the beginning of the week on their way to the town of Kiunga, in northern Kenya. Although they claimed to be tourists, the Kenyan authorities declined to believe them because there are no tourist sites in the area.

The four will be taken to the capital Nairobi for questioning later this week.
