Jail term for threat against anti-Islam MP

Published on 4 December 2009 - 11:47am
More about:

The public prosecutor in Rotterdam has demanded a 60 day jail term or 120 hours of community service for a Dutch rapper who threatened anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders. The Freedom Party leader was present as a witness in the heavily guarded courtroom.

According to the prosecutor, the rapper who goes by the name of Mo$heb threatened Mr Wilders in the text of his rap Who is Next (Wie Iz De Volgende). In the track which is on the web Mo$heb says it will be "bam, bam" if he should happen to run into Mr Wilders.

Gunned down
The rapper recalls that filmer and Islam critic Theo van Gogh, and anti-immigration nationalist politician Pim Fortuyn "were gunned down", and he is warning Mr Wilders that he may be next if he persists in his policies. Mr Mo$heb denied in court that he treatened Geert Wilders, pointing to his next line in the rap: it won't be him who kills Mr Wilders, because a true Muslim wouldn't hurt a fly.

Mo$heb said in court that he feels threatened by Mr Wilders, who responded by saying "I can't imagine you feel like that. If you disagree with me, use democratic means to protest, like writing a letter to the newspapers. I find it hard to understand threats against me."

The offending rap was posted on YouTube in February, labelled as a "Geert Wilders diss".

A film defending Mo$heb and showing how Muslims are treated around the world was posted on YouTube after his arrest (English subtitles).

The real problem is the nature of the religion of Islam: wanting to establish Islamic law wherever it's followers go. Islam and the free West are opposites and cannot ever mix. People will have to choose: do they want to give away their freedom of choice and live in a theocracy like the one in Iran or do they want to be able to keep their freedom and be able to make choices for themselves? You cannot have both. Muslims who live in the free West and think they can have both are knowingly fooling themselves and endangering the freedom of their fellow country men and women. If they are reluctant to reign in the influence of Islam they cannot start complaining when someone else is doing that for them. They will be owing Mr. Wilders big time and should be happy when he will denounce Islam as a religion, ban the Quran and outlaw any political party that affiliates with it. Wilders is only dangerous in the eyes of Islamic fanatics, everyone else should be cheering him on.

"Wilders is only dangerous in the eyes of Islamic fanatics, everyone else should be cheering him on."........How will they cheer on? What will their mantra be? Maybe, "Sieg Heil"! He has exceeded the fine line of demarcation of defending the West of Islamic terrorism. He has taken Western's justice and liberty down to the level of Islam by wanting to punish all Muslims for the crimes of Islamic terrorists. Wilders endangers the freedoms the Dutch enjoy today by making threats against Dutch citizens just because they are Muslims and they wear headscarves. The man is right about the dangers of Islam but he is just as dangerous to the civil liberties enjoyed in the Netherlands by using psychological threats against the non-terrorists, Muslims? He uses his political base to strike fear in the minds of innocent humans. Wilders pushed the rapper over the limits with his threats. He is lot more dangerous than the rapper and they both need to share the same cell.

If there is no question about Wilders`righteousness then where is the rest of the more 'civilized' political elite to help counter this Islamic threat? As long as Wilders remains the only one who takes a firm and unwavering stand, nobody should be complaining about his limited vocabulary or crude solutions. Without Wilders we would not even have this discussion. Thank you.

Both Mo$heb and Wilderrs are guilty of making threats and both are dangerous people. Wilders is the one of the causes of Mo$heb's anger? Why? Because he has used his political power to threaten the Muslims who are also Dutch citizens. When people like Wilders tells the Dutch public (the Muslims) that he is in favor of mass deportations of Muslims or he wants to tax Muslim for wearing their religious headscarves, he causes people, Muslims in this case, to react in an adverse manner. Wilders is right about the dangers of Islam but he is wrong for wanting to punish all Muslims by threatening them and their belief system. { Mo$hebs is dangerous but so is Wilders. I believe Wilders wants some Muslims to react as Mo$heb did. He will use Mo$heba as an example to further his cause but he will not admit that his negative behaviours towards all Muslims were the cause and effect of Mo$heb's threat. Both of them are dangerous but who is really the most dangerous of the two? I think Wilders is.

Oh poor Muslim murderous rapper, he is the victim here of course, don't you know? Muslims are ALWAYS the victim, no matter how they kill, oppress non-Muslims, threaten, and lie.

Wilders is right about that, use democratic means to protest, not violence or threats to use violence.
