Italy seizes 700 million from Camorra

Published on 8 April 2010 - 4:23pm
More about:

The Italian police have seized 700 million euros' worth of property belonging to a Naples Mafia clan.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said the raid was the most important seizure in his government's operations against the Mafia.

The property includes apartments and farms owned by members of the Casalesi clan of the Camorra. The real estate once belonged to Mafia boss Dante Passarelli, who laundered money for the powerful Casalesi clan. Mr Passarelli died under suspicious circumstances in 2004 when he was on trial in a major anti-Mafia case.
