Three Italian researchers have been rescued after being trapped in an underground cavern for 40 hours.
The three, who had entered the system of caves in a mountain in the southern Italian region of Campania on Friday, were caught unawares by a flood caused by a sudden rainstorm and were unable to get out.
Rescue workers started pumping out the water around the cavern on Saturday. The researchers were finally rescued on Saturday night.
