Israel has apologised to Turkey for the way the Turkish ambassador was treated during a televised meeting between Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon and Turkish ambassador Oguz Cellikol.
The diplomat was seated on a lower chair and the Turkish flag was removed from the table.
The Israeli minister had summoned the diplomat to rebuke him over an allegedly anti-Semitic Turkish television series portraying Israeli agents kidnapping babies.
After the meeting, Turkey threatened to recall its ambassador unless Israel issue a formal apology and tensions between the two countries mounted.
Turkey was for decades a close military and trading partner of Israeli, but in the past few years relations have deteriorated as Ankara has moved closer to Syria and Iran.
