The international community has reacted positively to the agreement reached in Honduras on Friday between ousted president Manuel Zelaya and coup leader Roberto Micheletti.
Speaking from Pakistan, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton congratulated both parties and the Honduran people. The Organisation of American States and the European Union also expressed their approval.
The agreement, which was reached under heavy pressure from the United States, establishes a government of national unity. It also allows Mr Zelaya to return to office until presidential elections are held next month. In return, he has agreed to abandon the constitutional reforms some say were aimed at allowing him to stand for another term of office.
There has been unrest in Honduras since late June, when the army removed and expelled Manuel Zelaya and he was replaced by the Congressional leader Roberto Micheletti. The new agreement still has to be apporved by the Honduran National Congress.
