An Indonesian production company has withdrawn its latest film because of threats from radical Muslims.
The film, Hanta Puncak Datang Bulan (The Menstruating Ghost of Puncak), is described as a horror comedy. The Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) called on its members to attack theatres screening the movie because it allegedly includes banned pornographic scenes and would damage morals.
The producers say that the FPI's fierce reaction is probably based on clips of an earlier uncensored version which can be seen on the video website YouTube. However, all sex scenes have been cut from the final version and the producers have arranged a meeting with FPI to show them the edited version.
