Seventeen soldiers have died in an avalanche in India. The avalanche hit a military training camp in Kashmir, close to the Gulmarg ski resort and near the Pakistani border.
A total of 70 troops were buried under the snow, but rescue workers managed to dig out most of them. The operation was hampered by heavy snowfall and fog.
