India prosecutes Dutch paedophile

Published on 20 November 2009 - 10:35am
More about:

A Dutchman charged in India with possesion of child pornography will also be prosecuted for having sex with minors.

He was arrested in the city of Chennai earlier this month. The man has confessed he had sexual contacts with underage boys. He took pictures of them, which were found stored on his computer.

The man has been an Indian resident for over thirty years and applied for Indian citizenship last year, but the application was rejected. In 2002 he was accused of sexually abusing children who were living in an orphanage he had founded in Chennai, and released on bail shortly afterwards.

Thanks, but my comment was for the Dutchman, who brought shame to his country by abusing innocent children, and already Holland is known for its liberal and controversial views on sex.

Dear anonymous, At RNW we try to tell the news like it is, even if it reflects unfavourably on the Dutch. It would amount to censorship or propaganda if we had omitted the accused's nationality. Thanks for your comment. Rob Kievit RNW Dutch News Writer
