IAEA fears Iran’s nuclear ambitions

Published on 19 February 2010 - 11:05am
More about:

For the first time the International Atomic Energy Agency has expressed its fears that Iran is developing a nuclear weapon.

The independent UN organisation fears back Western concerns over the issue. The IAEA bases its information on intelligence reports from the UN member states. They say Iran is developing the casing for a nuclear head and is researching detonation heights. There are also indications that Iran is working on a nuclear detonator.

This is the first report to be compiled under the leadership of the new IAEA chief Yukiya Amano. It appears the new Japanese IAEA chief has a more confrontational style than his predecessor from Egypt, Mohamed ElBaradei.

Discussion

Anonymous 19 February 2010 - 3:47pm / Canada

Irans foreign policy is self evident. They want to wipe Isreal off the map, are belligerant towards the UN,
and are moving to a Military Dictatorship.
Iran uses every means to increase tensions with the West and has the sordid history of holding the US hostage during the taking of diplomats as hostage in their history.
Iran openly assists and promotes terrorism towards the West and funds terrorists.
We can either attempt to use the inneffective UN sanction process to deal with them or we can tell Iran that they have crossed the line with their retoric and psychopathic manipulation of their true intent.
If we dont do something soon to bring Irans nuclear ambitions to a full stop. We will suffer a world changing impact of this countries true intent.
It is time to stop talking or attempting to put sanctions in place.
